Houston Early Music Festival

festival-logoThis February, I will have to pleasure to participate in the second annual Houston Early Music Festival. Ars Lyrica Houston, Bach Society Houston, Houston Early Music and Mercury – The Orchestra Redefined will host the second annual Houston Early Music Festival from February 8-16, 2014 at venues across the city.

On February 8th, The modern world première of a 1703 oratorio by Alessandro Scarlatti will feature Canadian soprano Meghan Lindsay in her Ars Lyrica début and three of the world’s leading countertenors which includes myself, John Holiday, and Jay Carter. Ars Lyrica’s recording of this beautiful work, not heard since the early 18th century, will be released in Fall 2014 on the Sono Luminus label.

Kitchen Opera at 54 Below

Last week, I had a pleasure to sing for Cady Huffman in her show at the Broadway’s super club 54 Below. Peter was simply amazing on the bagpipes and we were applauded by the likes of Nathan Lane. Cady was wonderful and we are thrilled to have her as part of Kitchen Opera Company.

Baroque Masters-Concert at Saint Thomas Church in New York

You are cordially invited to a one of a kind concert, Baroque Masters, where I get to sing one of my favorite pieces by Purcell, Tis natures’ voice.  This event will take a place on Thursday, January 30 @ 7:30 pm at Saint Thomas Church (Main Hall) in New York City.

Noted Early Music specialist Richard Egarr, Music Director of The Academy of Ancient Music, Cambridge, England, joins us in this collaboration with Juilliard’s period-instrument ensemble, with Robert Mealy as the director.  Richard Egarr and John Scott will conduct The Saint Thomas Choir of Men and Boys and Juilliard415 in a program featuring Purcell’s Hail! Bright Cecilia and two of Handel’s four Coronation Anthems, Zadok the Priest and The King Shall Rejoice. The program also includes Handel’s Water Music, Suite No. 2 in D major. With vocal soloists, Nicolette Mavroleon, soprano, Ryland Angel and Jeffrey Freuler, countertenors, Nathan Haller and James Kennerley, tenors, and Elliott Hines and Kurt Kanazawa, baritones, listeners can expect a delightful evening of entertainment.

Messiah and Trinity Wall Street

On December 18, 2013 at 7:30 pm, the Trinity Choir and  the Grammy-nominated Trinity Baroque Orchestra will present its annual performance of Handel’s Messiah, conducted by Julian Wachner. The performance will take place at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall. For tickets click here.

Worcester Annual Holiday Music Festival

Join the Worcester Chorus of Music Worcester and Artistic Director Christopher Shepard for this annual tradition that has been a Worcester seasonal favorite for 113 years! St. Cecilia Baroque Festival-Austin, TX

The St. Cecilia Baroque Festival occurs on the first weekend in December every year, featuring concerts on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. This year’s schedule is as follows: Night one – Friday, December 6, 8:00 PM, I will be performing at First Presbyterian Church of Austin. Night two – Saturday, December 7, 8:00 PM, there will be a premier performance by Imperfect Pearl: Virtuosity in 17th and 18 century London. Afternoon three – Sunday, December 8, 4:00 PM, we will be performing Handel’s Ode to Saint Cecilia and Linley’s Let God Arise.
